As a child I spent too many years believing that "epitome" was pronounced EP-i-toam, so as I enter my second childhood I shall henceforth be pronouncing "exercise" as e-XER-cis-ee.

Epitome I got right, but there are a whole bunch of words I have been pronouncing wrongly all my life. Every so often I learn of new ones when hearing some podcast or interview, and then, after checking whether the speaker got it right - which is not always the case - I try to remember the proper pronunciation. It doesn't help that there are regional differences.

I still can't believe the guitar brand is pronounced epi-phone and not like a revelation.

Yeah, uh... I could pronounce it, but I didn't look up the actual definition until a few minutes ago, and I've been using it wrong.
Going straight from first childhood into second.
